Koraput Collector transferred as Andhra set to hold panchayat polls in Odisha villages

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today transferred Senior OAS officer Madhusudan Mishra, who is working as the Collector and District Magistrate of Koraput. As per a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Mishra was posted as Additional Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department.

2015 batch IAS officer Md. Abdaal Akhtar was appointed as the new Collector and District Magistrate of Koraput. At present, Akhtar is working as the PD, DRDA of Cuttack.

The government’s decision comes after the Koraput district administration was in limelight in recent past when reports came in about neighbouring Andhra Pradesh’s plan to hold panchayat polls in three villages under Kotia panchayat of the district.

The Andhra Pradesh government renamed three villages under Kotia panchayat in Koraput and projected the villages under its Salur block.

As per latest reports, a total of 15 residents from Koraput district filed nominations for the panchayat polls conducted by the neighbouring State in the three Odisha villages on February 13 and 17.
