Koraput road mishap: Odisha CM announces ex-gratia to kin of deceased

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed grief over the death of three persons in a road mishap in Odisha’s Koraput district today.

Patnaik also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased persons, said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in a statement.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure proper treatment for the people who have sustained injuries in the mishap.

At least three persons, including two women, were killed and 13 others were injured in a road mishap involving an SUV, an auto-rickshaw and two motorcycles in Odisha’s Koraput district today afternoon.

The mishap took place near Bijapur Square under Borigumma police limits in Koraput at around 2 pm.

According to the locals, the SUV first collided with a bike coming from the opposite direction and then hit the auto-rickshaw from the rear before colliding with the second bike within a few seconds.

The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Later, four of them were shifted to SLN Medical College and Hospital at Koraput after their condition deteriorated, sources said.
