Koraput: Resentment over the death of Kunduli 'gang rape' victim intensified today as kin of the deceased and locals took away the body from a hospital here and placed it on NH-26 blocking the road near Kunduli Chhak in Odisha's Koraput district demanding justice.
Former Nabarangpur MP and Congress leader Pradeep Majhi also joined them in the road blockade.
Earlier in the day, tension gripped Kunduli community health centre (CHC) as the family members of the victim detained the body and didn't allow doctors to conduct post-mortem. They demanded arrest of the culprits and strict action against them.
Alleging that the victim was being pressurized by police to change her statement and the medical report was wrong, they have further demanded suspension of the concerned police official and the doctor who had conducted her medical examination after the alleged rape incident.
Notably, the minor tribal girl of Sorisapadar village, who was allegedly gang raped by a group of security personnel on October 10 last year when she was returning from Kunduli market near the village, hanged herself at her house yesterday.
The family members said that she took the extreme step as the officials are in denial mode that she was raped at all.
