Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) scheme in Kalahandi district.

Greeting the people of the district on the occasion of Kalahandi Foundation Day, the CM said as many as 63 buses will ply in the district under the scheme, providing connectivity to all panchayats.

After the flagging off ceremony, Patnaik went to Balarampur in a LAccMI bus, where he inaugurated a BQS facility.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated projects worth over Rs 300 crore and laid foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 900 crore for the district.

The LAccMI scheme has already been launched in Malkangiri and Gajapati districts.

In the first phase, the scheme will provide bus service in rural areas of six districts– Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Gajapati.

Under the LAccMI scheme, the State Government will operate 1000 buses in the rural areas across the state with allocated budget of Rs 3,178 crore.

The buses will run from panchayats to block headquarters and from block headquarters to district headquarters.
