LAMPCS MD arrested by Vigilance for taking bribe from farmer in Koraput

Bandhugaon: A team of Odisha Vigilance sleuths today arrested the Managing Director (MD) of Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Society (LAMPCS) at Bandhugaon-Almanda locality in Koraput district for taking bribe of Rs 35,000 from a local farmer.

The MD was identified as R. Ramakrishna. He had demanded bribe during procurement of paddy.

Even to the extent, Ramakrishna threatened the complainant farmer that the latter’s name will not be registered for paddy procurement at the mandi in coming Kharif crop season, in case the farmer refuses to give the demanded amount of money.

Following which, the farmer informed about it to Vigilance department. Accordingly, the sleuths laid a trap leading to the arrest of Ramakrishna. A Vigilance PS case (No-27/2022) has been registered in this connection in Koraput and a probe is underway, a senior official said.
