Landslide at colliery traps five workers in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: At least five workers were trapped at a colliery in Bharatpur area of Odisha’s Angul district following a landslide at the coal mine late last night.

Till last reports came in, one of the victims was rescued while the rest were trapped under the collapsed portion of the open cast mine.

The mishap took place around 2 am when the workers were loading coal on tippers. On being informed, Talcher police and Fire personnel rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operation. Officials of the Mines Department are supervising the operation.

The rescued worker has been admitted to Talcher hospital for treatment.
