Landslide in Odisha’s Nayagarh hits vehicular movement on NH

Nayagarh: Movement of vehicles on Khordha-Balangir National Highway was disrupted after a landslide at Banabiri ghat in Daspalla area of Odisha’s Nayagarh district last night.

Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road following the landslide.

According to reports, a company had undertaken the work of road expansion from Daspalla to Banigochha two months ago.

The height of the road at Banabiri ghat was descended after excavating soil from both sides of the hill. However, guard wall was not constructed.

Incessant rainfall in the area led to the landslide last night. Till last reports came in, restoration work was underway by the firm to facilitate plying of vehicles on the road.
