Bhubaneswar: The OAS officers have threatened to go on mass leave from July 1 to protest against the alleged assault on an official of the civic body in the Odisha capital here today.

The Odisha Administrative Service Association has unanimously resolved to proceed on mass leave with effect from July 1 to protest against the attack on the Additional Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

“At attack of such nature on a senior officer, while on duty, is an attack on the very foundation of the administrative framework,” said the association in a statement.

The incident is not an isolated one. It is being observed that a narrative has been set for the past one year to humiliate government servants in the state. It is not only unprecedented and deeply disturbing but also represents a grave threat to safety and dignity of officers, added the association.

The OAS Association has urged the competent authority to take immediate and exemplary action against the culprits. It also sought robust measures to ensure the safety and protection of government officers at their workplaces.

It is worth mentioning here that some miscreants assaulted BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo inside the office of the civic body during a grievance redressal meeting today.

The Commissionerate Police have arrested three persons after registering a case in this regard.
