Bhubaneswar: Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were clamped on the premises of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar to prevent any type of congregation or demonstration by any political party.

Soon after the imposition of the prohibitory orders, the police forcibly removed the activists of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and some other political parties, who were holding demonstration near the premier health institute to vent their anger over the tragic incident in which a minor girl was set on fire by some miscreants in Balanga area of Puri district today.

The victim, who suffered around 70 per cent burn injuries in the incident, is now undergoing treatment at the burn unit of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.

Prior to the imposition of the prohibitory orders, the hospital authorities urged people not to congregate at the entrance and lobby of the health institute.

“There are many patients inside the hospital. Public gathering will hamper patient care and increase the chance of infection,” said the Medical Superintendent in a notice.

Earlier in the day, a Plus-2 girl student was allegedly set ablaze by some unidentified miscreants in Balanga area of Puri. Some locals rescued the victim and rushed her to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.

The incident took place a few days after the self-immolation of a girl student of FM Autonomous College in Balasore allegedly due to harassment by a faculty member recently.
