Bhubaneswar: The maiden Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha has laid the foundation for good governance in the state, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
The Prime Minister was speaking at an event at Janata Maidan in the capital city here to mark the first anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha.
“The first BJP government in Odisha has completed one year recently. The BJP government has laid the foundation for good governance in the state,” he said.
The Prime Minister congratulated Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and and the members of his Cabinet for their efforts for the rapid development of the state.
“Odisha has contributed a lot for the cultural glory of the country. Lord Jagannath is source of inspiration for us. The state government has taken steps to open the Ratna Bhandar of Jagannath temple and ensure its conservation,” he added.
The Prime Minister revealed that he had declined the invitation of US President Donald Trump to visit Washington as he was scheduled to visit Odisha to attend the first anniversary of the BJP government.
“The US president had invited me to visit Washington. But, I have politely declined the offer as I had already decided to visit Odisha, the land of Lord Jagannath, on June 20,” he said.
The Prime Minister began his speech by invoking Lord Jagannath and Lord Lingaraj. He also greeted the people in Odia.
The Prime Minister unveiled Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 on the occasion. The state government has prepared the vision document to make Odisha a developed state by 2036, the centenary year of its formation.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi praised the Prime Minister for the success of Operation Sindoor, launched to destroy terror infrastructure in Pakistan following Pahalgam terror attack.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian armed forces have destroyed the terror camps in Pakistan and ensured justice for the victims of Pahalgam,” he said.
The Chief Minister claimed that the country has achieved rapid economic growth under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. The country will soon become a $ 5 trillion economy, he said.
The Chief Minister stated that the BJP government in Odisha has prepared a roadmap for achieving all-round development in the state.
He also highlighted various initiatives of the state government including the hike in paddy MSP and Subhadra scheme for women on the occasion.
“We have provided government jobs to over 28,000 youths in last one year. Industrial projects worth around Rs 1.5 lakh crore were grounded in Odisha during this period,” said the Chief Minister.
According to the Chief Minister, the state government has set a target to make Odisha a $ 500 billion economy by 2036 and $ 1.5 trillion economy by 2047.
