Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today conducted simultaneous raids on multiple properties linked to Jagannath Pattnaik, Executive Engineer of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), on allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During the raids, Vigilance officials unearthed properties worth crores of rupees, including a farmhouse and multiple plots.
Among the major findings is a triple-storeyed building measuring 4,560 sq. ft. in Badagada, Bhubaneswar. A farmhouse spread across 1.57 acres in Mouza Ranapur under Balianta tehsil, Khordha district, was also traced by the Vigilance officials.
The properties include a double-storeyed building, a large fish pond, and a plantation featuring various fruits and trees such as coconut, banana, mango, guava, and even exotic varieties like dragon fruit and red sandalwood. A poultry farm housing 15 chicks was also found on the premises.
Vigilance officials also recovered a country-made gun and a pair of antler horns during the search.
Pattnaik was also found to have ownership of three high-value land plots— two in Badagada and one in Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar.
Further, the Vigilance officials recovered around 200 grams of gold, a Maruti Grand Vitara car, a two-wheeler, and documents related to several bank accounts and financial investments, which are currently under assessment. A locker in the name of Pattnaik’s wife has also been identified and will be opened as part of the investigation.
A special team from the Vigilance Technical Wing is engaged in measuring and evaluating the total worth of the assets unearthed. Searches are still ongoing.
