Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to launch a comprehensive ward-level survey to identify urban poor and connect them with various social welfare schemes of the Odisha government. The initiative is part of the state-wide 'Sahajog' programme aimed at ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left behind.
The survey, to be carried out across all 67 wards in the capital city, will help identify individuals and families who are eligible for schemes but are yet to benefit from them. The goal is to improve last-mile delivery of services, strengthen implementation at the urban local body (ULB) and district levels, and raise awareness among the urban poor.
The corporators, along with BMC’s field-level staff and workers, will visit urban communities to collect data and facilitate on-the-spot enrolment into various schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), ration cards under NFSA, piped water supply, Ayushman Bharat health Card, Subhadra Yojana, Labour Card and e-Shram Card, Madhubabu Pension Yojana, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
The Odisha government had rolled out the 'Sahajog' initiative in March this year. Initially, it covers 44 urban local bodies (ULBs) across eight districts, with the help of the Sahajog App for real-time beneficiary identification and tracking.
