Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low pressure area over southwest Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression during the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

"The low pressure area over the north Bay of Bengal & adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, West Bengal & north Odisha moved north-northwestwards and lay as a well-marked low pressure area over southwest Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 14th July, 2025. It is likely to move northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression during the next 24 hours," the agency said.

On the other hand, several districts of Odisha are likely to receive heavy rainfall today, as per the IMD.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak,  Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
