Rayagada: A second-year engineering student of GIET University in Gunupur of Odisha's Rayagada district was today found dead in his hostel room in a suspected case of suicide.

The deceased, identified as Himansu Hota from Soro in Balasore district, was a student of the Biotechnology department.

As per reports, his body was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his hostel room. Upon receiving information, Gunupur police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident. A scientific team has also been called in.

It is suspected that the student may have taken the extreme step of ending his life due to issues related to his relationship with a girl.

Further investigation is underway.
