Bhubaneswar: Sharply reacting to self-immolation attempt by Balasore FM College girl student, who is battling for life at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, Odisha Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik sought Governor's intervention for justice to the victim.
As the Governor serves as the Chancellor of all the government-run universities including FM University, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Supremo urged the former to intervene and ensure the student gets justice.
Taking to his X handle, he described the incident shocking and disturbing and prayed for the victim's speedy recovery from burn injuries.

Soumyashree Bisi, a 2nd year Integrated B.Ed student of the FM College, is currently on ventilator support at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. She was brought to the hospital with 95% burn injuries.
She allegedly set herself on fire on premises of the college on Saturday alleging continuous harassment by the HoD Samira Kumar Sahu.
Acting swiftly following the incident, the state government suspended the college principal Dillip Kumar Ghose and HoD Samira Kumar Sahu. The lecturer was arrested later by the local police in Balasore.
