Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has granted interim relief to BJD leader and former Balasore MP Rabindra Kumar Jena in connection with the mult-crore Seashore chitfund scam in the state.

The HC forbade the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from taking coercive action against Jena till the next order of the court.

However, the HC has asked the former MP to cooperate the CBI in its probe into the Seashore chitfund scam in Odisha.

Notably, the CBI has summoned Jena to depose before it on July 14 in connection with the ponzi scam.

The investigating agency had earlier filed a chargesheet against Jena in a designated court alleging that the former MP had an illegal monetary transaction with Seashore Group.

It is worth mentioning here that Jena had been elected to the Lok Sabha from Balasore Parliamentary constituency in Odisha on a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ticket in 2014. However, he was defeated by BJP’s Pratap Sarangi from the same seat in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

However, Jena’s wife Subasini Jena was elected to the Odisha Assembly from Basta seat in Balasore on a BJD ticket in 2024.
