Sambalpur: A coach of the 20831 Shalimar-Sambalpur Mahima Gosain Express train derailed near Sambalpur City Station this morning. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
According to the East Coast Railway, the incident occurred at around 9:22 AM when the rear trolley of a general coach next to the guard van went off the tracks. The train had just departed from Sambalpur City station at 9:18 AM and was moving at a very slow speed when the derailment took place on the Sambalpur City-Sambalpur section.
Fortunately, no damage to life or property was reported. The rest of the train, except the affected coach, resumed its journey and safely reached Sambalpur with all passengers on board.
Senior railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), rushed to the site and are overseeing restoration work and investigating the cause of the derailment.
