Nuapada: A man allegedly killed his father over land dispute at Kurumunda village under Beltukuri police limits in Odisha's Nuapada district, police informed today.
The deceased person has been identified as Pawan Singh Bariha, aged about 60 years.
According to reports, Tularam Bariha, 36, in an inebriated state, attacked his father Pawan with a teak wood and hit his head following a heated argument on Saturday. He strangled him to death with a shirt.
On receiving information, Nuapada SP and other senior police officials along with a scientific team reached the spot, recovered the body and detained the accused son for interrogation.
The prima facie reveals that land dispute was the reason behind the murder of the elderly man, police said.
A case has been registered at the Beltukuri PS under section 103(1) of BNS. The probe is underway.
