Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik underwent a successful surgery for cervical arthritis at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
The procedure was carried out under the supervision of renowned cardiologist Dr. Ramakant Panda, who is also Patnaik's personal physician.
According to Dr. Panda, the surgery, which lasted nearly two hours, was conducted by a team of experienced surgeons in the presence of doctors from the Asian Heart Institute.
"Patnaik is active, conscious and stable. He is currently under observation and is likely to be discharged within 5 to 7 days," Dr. Panda informed.
Dr. Panda will continue to oversee the BJD leader's recovery and post-operative care.
Following the news of his surgery, prayers and well-wishes had poured in from party members and supporters across Odisha. 'Dipa Dana' rituals were observed at prominent temples in the state.
