Bhubaneswar: Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said that beneficiaries who have not completed the mandatory e-KYC process for their ration cards will stop receiving rice from this month onwards.
Speaking to reporters, Patra said the deadline set by the Central Government for e-KYC verification is ending today. He informed that around 20.58 lakh beneficiaries in the state are yet to complete their e-KYC.
“As per the new rule, those who have not completed e-KYC will not receive rice under the public distribution system (PDS) from this month. The supply will remain suspended for three months,” he stated.
The Minister made it clear that ration will only be provided to beneficiaries after successful e-KYC verification.
“If e-KYC is not done within these three months, the ration card will be cancelled permanently,” he warned.
The government has urged all eligible beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC process at the earliest to continue availing subsidised food grains.
