Bhubaneswar: The authorities of Ravenshaw University in Odisha’s Cuttack city have made it clear that none of the hostel boarders was affected by diarrhoea or cholera.

According to the authorities, altogether 27 students of the varsity were hospitalized due to food infection yesterday.

Incidents of food infection were reported from New PG and Dharmapada hostels of the varsity yesterday, said the Registrar of University Registrar in a statement today.

The affected students were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, he added.

The hospital authorities revealed that the students have not been affected by diarrhoea or cholera. None of them was admitted to the cholera or diarrhoea ward of the hospital, said the Registrar.

“Some of the students have already been discharged from the hospital while others are under observation. The medical team is closely monitoring the health conditions of the students,” he added.

The university authorities, meanwhile, have taken all preventive measures to avoid similar incident in future.
