Koida: In a tragic mishap, two persons were killed while four others sustained critical injuries following a deadly collision between a van and a Hyva truck in Koida in Odisha's Sundargarh district on Friday.
The accident took place near Aryan Chhak at around 8.15 am. The identities of the deceased has not been disclosed yet.
As per reports, the van carrying labourers was heading towards Kamanda Steel Plant when a speeding Hyva coming from the opposing direction rammed into it. While the van driver and one of the labourers died on the spot, four others were critically wounded.
The victims were first rushed to Koida community health centre. But when their health condition deteriorated, doctors referred them to Rourkela Government Hospital. Further details are awaited.
Koida being a prominent mining circle witnesses frequent road mishaps as heavy vehicle drivers are often prone to drunk driving. The surge in accidents has been a longstanding concern of locals in the area.
