Sundargarh: In a tragic mishap, two youths were killed while one sustained critical injuries following a truck-bike collision in Bhasma in Odisha's Sundargarh district on Sunday. The incident took place on Bankibahal-Bhedabahal coal corridor late in the night.Â
The deceased were identified as Shubham Barik and Trilochan Seth. The injured victim Bikas Nayak, who was critically injured, has been shifted to Rourkela Government Hospital. All three were residents of Bhedabahal.Â
As per reports, the trio was going on a two-wheeler when a speeding trawler truck rammed into their vehicle near Brahmanipali. The collision was so severe that Shubham and Trilochan were thrown off the bike and fell at a distance, dying on the spot. The truck driver fled the spot before cops could arrive.
Locals found Bikas in a pool of blood and rushed him to the hospital.Â
Following the incident, irate villagers staged a road blockade demanding justice and compensation for the bereaved families. Police on getting information, reached the spot and tried to placate the protestors. They informed that efforts are on to nab the accused truck driver at the earliest and a case has been registered. The exact cause of the two deaths will be established after the postmortem report arrives.Â
