Bhubaneswar: A 15-year-old girl from Bayabar village in Odisha’s Puri district, who suffered severe burn injuries, was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for advanced medical care on Sunday.

The minor, admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar with 70–75% burn injuries, was shifted in a fully equipped air ambulance with life support. A green corridor was created from the hospital to the Bhubaneswar airport to ensure her swift and safe transit.

According to sources, the next 48 hours are critical for the teenager. A team of medical officers is accompanying her during the air transfer, and arrangements have been made at AIIMS Delhi for immediate specialized treatment.

The victim was allegedly set on fire by three unidentified miscreants on Saturday morning in Bayabar village under Balanga police limits, Nimapara block. After receiving first aid at Pipili Hospital, she was referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar in critical condition, where she was placed on oxygen support.

The Odisha government has announced it will bear all expenses for her treatment. The decision to transfer her to Delhi reportedly came following mounting pressure from opposition parties demanding better medical intervention.

Her family members were present at AIIMS Bhubaneswar during her transfer to the airport.

Police have launched an investigation, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits behind the heinous attack.
