Bhubaneswar: As the Congress-led 12-hour Odisha Bandh disrupted normal life across the state, the Twin City Commissionerate Police released a helpline number to assist commuters facing difficulties during the protest.

Commuters in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack can contact the police control room at 0674-254354 for any support or assistance related to the bandh.

The bandh was called by the Odisha Congress demanding justice for Soumyashree Bisi, a student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, who died after an alleged self-immolation attempt. The incident has sparked statewide outrage, with widespread participation in the shutdown.

The bandh had a significant impact, especially in urban areas. Public transportation, including buses and private vehicles, remained largely off the roads. Several commuters reported being stopped midway by Congress supporters, further compounding travel woes.

Police have assured necessary assistance and urged the public to use the helpline in case of emergencies or movement-related issues.
