Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, today approved a proposal for the bifurcation of the existing Mayurbhanj Police District, paving the way for the creation of a new police district headquartered in Rairangpur.
The proposal, moved by the Home Department, aims to enhance policing efficiency and improve public service delivery in the region, according to an official statement.
The newly formed Rairangpur Police District will be headed by two Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs): one at Rairangpur and another at Karanjia. The district will comprise 14 police stations, namely: Rairangpur PS, Rairangpur Town PS, Badampahada PS, Gorumahisiani PS, Bisoi PS, Tiring PS, Bahalda PS, Jamda PS, Karanjia PS, Thakurmunda PS, Mahuladiha PS, Raruan PS, Ghagarbeda PS and Jashipur PS.
Additionally, five police outposts and two beat houses will fall under the jurisdiction of the new district.
The decision was part of a broader Cabinet meeting during which 13 proposals from 11 different departments received approval.
