Bhubaneswar: A proposal has been submitted to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for starting MBBS courses at PGIMER and Capital Hospital, health Minister Mukesh Mahaling informed today.

The proposal also includes plans to establish a large medical college on the Capital Hospital campus, he added.

The Minister further stated the ongoing construction work of PGIMER Capital Hospital is scheduled for completion by July 31. The hospital building will be handed over to the State Government by the end of next month by the contracting agency L&T and WATCO.

Once the work is completed, the administrative department and students’ hostels will function from the Capital Hospital campus.

Highlighting the institution’s growing academic capacity, Mahaling informed the number of PG seats at the hospital has increased to 78, with 24 postgraduate students set to graduate this year.
