Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association has decided to distance itself from the ongoing cease-work agitation of the drivers in the state.

The private bus owners’ association has announced that it will resume bus services across the state from tomorrow (July 12).

“Bus services across Odisha have been affected for four days due to the cease-work agitation by the drivers’ association. The passengers are facing a lot of inconveniences. We have decided to resume the bus services from tomorrow,” said All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association secretary Debendra Sahu.

The bus owners’ association has urged the state government to provide the necessary security for resumption of bus services in the state.

“The agitating drivers have blocked roads at several places across the state. There are also reports that some buses have been vandalized by miscreants. So, we urge the state government to provide the necessary security to bus drivers and employees,” Sahu added.

It is worth mentioning here that the Odisha Drivers’ Association had launched its cease-work agitation on July 8 to press for their six-point charter of demands including pensions after 60 years of age and basic facilities for the drivers.

Drivers of buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles participated in the agitation. The agitation led to disruption in the bus services across the state.
