Bhubaneswar: Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will remain closed for visitors from July 1. Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) field director Prakash Gogineni issued a notification in this regard today.
However, the eco-tourism sites at Jamuani, Gudagudia, Kumari, Barehipani and Ramatritha inside the national park will remain opened for the tourists.
The authorities will later notify a date for the reopening of the Similipal National Park, said the office of the field director. The national park remains out of bound for visitors during the rainy season every year.
The authorities, meanwhile, revealed that altogether 38,483 tourists visited Similipal in 2024-25 financial year. As per the data, as many as 26,083 tourists from across Odisha, 12,388 from other states and 12 foreign nationals visited the national park in 2024-25 fiscal.
The authorities of Similipal have collected revenue worth Rs 1.22 crore from jungle safari and Rs 29.48 lakh as entry fees from the visitors.
Similarly, they have collected revenue worth Rs 2.75 crore from the eco-tourism facilities inside the national park.
Similipal and its surrounding areas witnessed heavy rainfall in last few days, reports said.
It is worth mentioning here that the state government had declared Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) as a National Park in April this year.
