Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace swimmer Shristi Upadhaya clinched Gold in the 100m butterfly female event at the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2025 today.
Shristi won the medal on the first day of the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championships, being organised at Kalinga Stadium in the Odisha capital here.
Earlier in the day, the sporting event was inaugurated by Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj in the presence of Swimming Federation of India president RN Jayprakash and other senior officials. The event is scheduled to conclude on June 26.
“I am very much happy for winning the Gold medal on the first day of the national aquatic championships. It is my first individual medal. I will also participate in the 50m and 200m butterfly events. Now, my immediate target is to get selected for the Asian Championships and Asian Games,” said Shristi.
