Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will launch ‘Samrudha Sahar’ scheme to transform cities into dynamic growth hubs and engines of economic progress.

The State Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, today approved the scheme, a landmark initiative aimed at promoting planned urbanization and balanced regional development across Odisha.

The new scheme has two components—Town Planning scheme and Cities as Gowth Hubs.

Under Town Planning Scheme, steps will be taken for the assembling and reconstituting land in peri-urban areas to enable planned urban growth.

The scheme will facilitate the provision of essential urban infrastructure including roads, water supply, sewage systems and solid waste management.

Cities as Growth Hubs initiative aims at positioning urban areas as centres of economic transformation. It will support the development of integrated economic clusters, industrial townships and high potential urban corridors.

The state government has allocated Rs 4,879.30 crore for implementation of the Samrudha Sahar scheme.

The initiative marks a significant step toward realizing the goal of making Odisha a developed state by 2036, said the government.
