On-duty BMC official assaulted at Bhubaneswar civic office

Bhubaneswar: Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Ratnakar Sahoo, was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths at the BMC office while he was conducting a grievance redressal meeting today.

According to reports, six unidentified youths entered Sahoo’s chamber and attacked him without provocation. The motive behind the assault remains unclear.

Reacting to the incident, Sahoo said the attackers were unknown to him. “I will report the matter to higher authorities, and an FIR will be filed soon,” he stated.

In protest, BMC employees staged a dharna at the office premises and ceased work for the day, demanding immediate action against the culprits and enhanced security for civic staff.
