Bhubaneswar: The private bus services resumed today four days amid drivers' strike causing major disruption in public transport across Odisha.

The buses started plying from the Netaji Bus Terminal in Cuttack to various destinations in the state following the decision by private bus owners' association last night.

In view of inconveniences occurring to commuters as well as massive loss to bus owners due to non-operation of buses, the bus owners' federation at a meeting in Puri on Friday night decided to withdraw their support to ongoing steering down protest called by Drivers' Association.

As per the decision, the bus services started on various routes in different parts of the state.

The bus owners’ association has urged the state government to provide the necessary security for resumption of bus services in the state.

On July 8, Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha called for the state-wide protest over a six-point charter calling for action over their longstanding demands. Over five lakh drivers of buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles joined the indefinite strike urging for job security, dignity and basic rights.
