Puri: The chariots of Lord Jagannath and Holy siblings carrying them reached Saradhabali in front of the Gundicha Temple, their destination where the deities will stay for a few days during 11-day-long Ratha Jatra in Puri.
Lord Jagannath's chariot Nandighosha arrived at 1.09 pm at Saradhabali following Lord Balabhadra's Taladhawja and Devi Subhadra's Darpadalan chariots reached here.
The chariot pulling resumed at 9.30 am today as per the schedule revised by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) following the chariots were halted midway on the Grand Road last evening.
"It was all Lord Jagannath's will," said SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Padhee on delay in chariot pulling on Friday.
According to reports, the chariots did not move forward on the Grand Road after completion of all rituals during Ratha Jatra. While Lord Balabhadra's Taladhwaja chariot stopped at Balagandi Chhak, Devi Subhadra's chariot covered just a few distance from the Singhadwara (Lion's Gate) at the Jagannath Temple. Lord Jagannath's chariot did not move more than a few steps despite efforts by devotees and security personnel last evening.
Sources said that several issues occurred when Taladhwaja chariot rolled on the road towards Gundicha Temple yesterday. The chariot reportedly took turn many a time, leading to halting at Balagandi Chhak.
In view of the occurrences, the temple administrator decided to resume the chariot pulling today morning.
