Cuttack: As many as ten students of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack have been asked by the varsity authorities to vacate hostel over allegations of ragging at the East Hostel of the educational institution.

According to reports, the incident came to light late last night when university officials received information that a group of senior students had allegedly harassed first-year undergraduate students. The Vice Chancellor, hostel warden, and several faculty members rushed to the East Hostel to take stock of the situation.

Chief Warden Sudarshan Mishra confirmed that the ragging incident indeed took place. “We have video and photo evidence of the incident, which has been submitted to the Anti-Ragging Committee,” he said.

In response to the complaint, the university's Anti-Ragging Cell convened an emergency meeting and decided to evict 10 students from the hostel as a preliminary measure. The university administration said that this action was taken based on initial findings and as part of its zero-tolerance policy against ragging.

A committee has been formed to thoroughly investigate the matter. University officials assured that strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven true.
