Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police has arrested a person from Rayagada district for posting an AI-generated video of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in social media.
The accused has been identified as Kishore Kausalya of Keutaguda Station Sahi under Chandili police limits in Rayagada. The accused works in a construction company at Tikri in the southern Odisha district, said the Crime Branch.
Accused Kishore Kausalya has been booked under Sections 78, 79, 294, 296, 336(2), 336(4), 340(2) and 356(2) of the BNS, Sections 66-C, 67 and 67-A of IT Act 2000, and Sec 3 of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986. He has been produced in the SDJM court in Bhubaneswar, added the Crime Branch.
According to the Crime Branch, the accused had shared an AI-generated and morphed video of the Chief Minister in social media with an intention to tarnish his image.
The video shared from a Facebook page allegedly depicted the Chief Minister in an obscene manner.
A complaint in this regard was lodged with the police. The Cyber Crime Unit of the Crime Branch immediately enquired into the matter and registered an FIR on the basis of the enquiry report.
The doctored video was later removed from the social media platform at the behest of the Odisha Police.
The Crime Branch, meanwhile, urged the people to be extremely careful about the content of their social media posting.
“Stern action will be taken against individuals for indulging in such illegal acts,” warned the Crime Branch.
