Bhubaneswar: All schools in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will remain closed on June 20 due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Odisha.
The School and Mass Education Department of the state government today sent a letter in this regard to the District Education Officers (DEOs) of Khurda and Cuttack.
As per the letter, all government, government-aided and private schools under the territorial jurisdictions of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) will remain closed on June 20 (Friday) due to the Prime Minister’s visit to the capital city.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a roadshow and address a public meeting in the capital city here on June 20 to mark the first anniversary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha.
“A state-level meeting will be held in Bhubaneswar on June 20 (Friday) to mark the first anniversary of the new government in Odisha. The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the event. Large number of people are expected to congregate in Bhubaneswar on the occasion. There are possibilities of traffic issues in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. So, all government, government-aided and private schools under the jurisdictions of BMC and CMC will remain closed on June 20,” read the letter.
Earlier, the School and Mass Education Department announced that schools across Odisha, which have been closed for summer vacation, would reopen on June 20.
