Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) lodged a formal complaint with the Singhadwar Police Station after visuals showing the use of mobile phones on the chariots of the Holy Trinity during the Rath Yatra went viral on social media and other platforms.
This year, the SJTA strictly prohibited carrying or using mobile phones on the chariots as part of its efforts to preserve the sanctity and ensure the safety of the rituals.
In a letter addressed to the Inspector-in-Charge of Singhadwar Police Station, the Officer on Special Duty (Security) requested legal action against individuals who violated the mobile phone ban.
The letter emphasised the use of mobile phones on the chariots not only disturbs the sanctity of the religious rituals but also poses potential risks to the safety of life and property.
Meanwhile, the Niladri Bije ritual, the concluding event of the Rath Yatra during which Lord Jagannath and His Siblings return to the Shree Jagannath Temple, is set to commence later today. The ritual falls on the Trayodashi tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Asadha.
