Bhubaneswar: Two minor boys from Odisha, who had been rescued in a critical condition after a tourist bus plunged into Teesta river in Sikkim on May 29, were brought to the capital city from the northeastern state today.

The duo, identified as Sairaj Jena (17) and Supreet Nayak (16), reached the Odisha capital by train.

Upon their arrival at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, the duo was taken to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for further treatment.

It is worth mentioning here that four tourists from Odisha, including BJP leader Itishree Jena (42) and her elder son Sahil Jena (20), went missing after the tourist bus plunged into Teesta river in Sikkim.

Itishree’s younger son Sairaj and Supreet were rescued from the spot in a critical condition. They were undergoing treatment at a hospital in the northeastern state.

As per the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena made the necessary arrangements for evacuating the two minor boys from Sikkim.  

Earlier, the Odisha government had sent two officials to coordinate with the local authorities in Sikkim for the rescue operation and proper treatment for the injured tourists.
