Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for family members of workers from Odisha killed in a terrible explosion at Sigachi Industries Ltd's manufacturing unit in Pashamylaram, Telangana, on Monday. 

The CM announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the families of Odia people who lost their lives in the industrial explosion, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated today.  

Additionally, a team of state government officials is present at the accident site and monitoring the rescue and medical assistance. 

So far, bodies of eight Odisha workers have been identified, of them 3 are from Ganjam district and 2 from Nabarangpur district. The deceased persons were -- Rajnala Jagan Mohan from Chhatrapur, Ganjam; Lagnajeet Duari from Tigiria, Cuttack; Manoj Rout from Simulia, Balasore; Dolagobinda Sahoo from Dharmasala, Jajpur; Chaitu Bhatra from Nabarangpur; Ramesh Goud from Nabarangpur; Sidharth Goud from Mahanandapur, Ganjam; Prashant Moahapatra from Berhampur, Ganjam. All of them were working at the factory when the explosion occurred on June 30 morning. 

The tragic incident took place in the Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) drying unit of Sigachi Industries Limited, located in the Pashamylaram industrial area in Sangareddy district, about 50 km from Hyderabad. The powerful blast caused a massive fire, claiming over 36 lives and injuring many others.

The toll in the fire and explosion rose to 39 on Friday as one of the injured succumbed at a hospital.

The company stated that out of the 33 injured team members, 12 have been discharged, each provided with Rs 1 lakh as interim relief. It has already announced that it will provide full medical and rehabilitation support to the injured employees.

An investigation into the incident led by Chief Secretary to Telangana Government is currently underway. The Preliminary investigation findings are expected within seven days.
