Bhubaneswar: In a disturbing incident reported from GGP Colony in Bhubaneswar, two minor children were rescued after allegedly being subjected to physical abuse by their grandmother. The children reportedly lost consciousness after being thrashed.

Alert neighbours intervened and handed the children over to Mancheswar Police. According to local residents, the children had been enduring regular mistreatment by both their grandmother and father.

During their interaction with the police, the children revealed their grandmother allegedly deprived them of food and frequently subjected them to physical and emotional abuse.

Responding to the allegations, the grandmother, identified as Jyotsana Rani Patra, claimed she had punished the children for playing constantly and neglecting their studies.

Reports also indicate the children’s father, Sharat Patra, is suffering from psychiatric issues.

Police have begun an investigation into the matter, and further action will be taken based on medical reports and witness statements.
