Sundargarh: A woman Ayush doctor died after allegedly consuming an overdose of sleeping pills late last night. The deceased has been identified as Salila Panda, who was a resident of Runagaon under Badagaon police limits in Odisha's Sundargarh district.

According to reports, Salila’s husband, Debabrata Mishra, found her unconscious when he woke up during the night. He immediately rushed her to the Badgaon Hospital in an 108 ambulance, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

While the exact cause of death remains unclear, preliminary reports suggest an overdose of sleeping pills. However, police have not yet ruled out other possibilities, including suicide or foul play.

Debabrata Mishra has lodged a written complaint at the Badagaon police station. Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the doctor's death.

Although the reason behind the alleged overdose is still unclear, reports indicate that the couple often faced marital discord. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is released, police said.
