Bhubaneswar: As the world marks the 11th International Day of Yoga, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described yoga as the finest gift India has given to mankind.
Speaking at a state-level event held under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One health”, the Chief Minister emphasized yoga’s deep roots in Indian culture and its growing global relevance.
“Yoga is an inseparable part of India’s ancient culture and tradition. What was once limited to our nation has now become a global movement—thanks to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Majhi said. “Within just six months of assuming office in 2014, Prime Minister took the initiative to present yoga on the world stage. Recognizing its universal appeal, the United Nations declared 21 June as International Day of Yoga on 11 December 2014.”
Quoting Prime Minister Modi, Majhi added, “Yoga is India’s software,” highlighting its power to transform minds and lives.
“Yoga brings peace, relieves mental stress, and guides us from negativity to creativity. With more than a hundred countries participating in Yoga Day today, this is a moment of pride for every Indian. I am delighted to witness people from all walks of life embracing yoga with enthusiasm,” he said.
