Lawyers-police spat: Odisha HC Bar Association to continue cease work stir

Cuttack: Orissa High Court Bar Association will continue their cease work stir protesting ‘police atrocity’ on lawyers.

The next course of action will be taken at a meeting on Wednesday, informed the High Court Bar Association president Srikant Nayak here today.

The lawyers association had called for cease work strike on August 30 till arrest of the cops for attacking a lawyer in Cuttack.

Taking action against the erring cops, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh suspended two Constables and a Havildar in connection with the attack on a lawyer by cops at Nua Bazaar bridge on August 28 morning in Cuttack.

The DCP suspended Constables BK Samal and UK Bhuyan and Havildar PK Behera for police excesses.

Besides, a one-month notice has been served to Home Guard Kishore Samal seeking his explanation, following which necessary action would be taken, Singh had informed at a Press meet on August 30.
