Lawyers ransack Collector’s office in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Members of the Dhenkanal District Lawyers’ Association today reportedly ransacked the Collector’s office alleging that the official had misbehaved with some lawyers.

While the lawyers manhandled the Additional Collector, they also vandalised flower pots, furniture, nameplates and glass panes at the office, reports said.

The incident took place when the lawyers had staged a dharna on the office premises protesting the collector’s alleged misbehaviour with them. “The collector, who is also the District Magistrate, had ill-treated some lawyers by making them wait for a long time outside his chamber in connection with a land acquisition case. We demand an apology from him,” an agitating lawyer said.

Policemen have been deployed at the office to prevent untoward incident.
