Lecturer arrested for land fraud in Odisha capital

Saheed Nagar police in Odisha capital today arrested a person for land fraud. He was detained by police since yesterday.

The arrested has been identified as Sasadhar Pati from Nimapada in Puri district. He was working as a lecturer in a private institute.

According to the complaint registered with police by Santosh Garabadu of Old Town area, Sasadhar had managed to dupe lakhs of rupees forging the ownership of two acres and 600 decimal of land owned by complainant’s grandfather Golak Garabadu on the pretext of selling the piece of land.

However, Golak died eight years ago who was an illiterate.

The accused was trying to sell the patch by forging the signature of the late owner of the land under Basuaghai Mouza.

Being informed about the forgery, Santosh contacted the fraudster posing himself as a customer to buy the plot.

When the complainant reached at the spot with his supporters yesterday, Sasadhar was found with forged documents following which the former informed the police control room.

Police reached the spot and took the culprit into custody.
