LED lights in all Odisha towns by May 2019

Bhubaneswar: The State authorities decided to electrify the streets with LED bulbs in all the towns of Odisha by May next year.

A tripartite in this regard was signed recently by the State Urban Development department for electrification of roads in 113 urban areas.

Sources said that total Rs 269.83 crore will be spent in the street electrification project.

As per the agreement, LED bulbs will replace the mercury lights on the streets. Total 61,079 LED lights will be installed within five months on the streets and major roads.

According to reports, 113 civic bodies have been divided into five clusters for the project. While Mumbai-based Crompton Greaves (CG) will install the Energy Efficiency lights in cluster A and B areas, the project has been assigned to Surya Roshni, a Delhi-based firm, for cluster C and Akanksha Power And Infrastructure for the cluster D and E areas.
