Balasore: A leopard, whose presence near Gada village in Khaira area of Odisha’s Balasore district had left the residents of the locality panic-stricken, was captured late Saturday night. The animal had injured as many as six persons, including a forest guard.
A team from Similipal managed to tranquilize the leopard inside a house in the village at around 11 pm.
The animal was safely captured after an eight-hour-long operation and transported to Kuldiha sanctuary for release.
The leopard had initially attacked and injured a woman and her husband while they were working in their backyard in the village.
The leopard’s rampage continued, leading to further attacks, including one on a forest guard, before it was finally captured.
