Leopard suffers from sunstroke at Odisha forest; rescued

Bhubaneswar: A leopard reportedly suffered from sunstroke at a forest in Nuapada district of Odisha today.

Prompt action by the Forest department officials saved the animal from danger, sources said.

Some villagers reportedly spotted the distressed leopard in a forest near Siliaribahara village under Nuapada Sadar block in the afternoon.

On being informed, a team from the Forest department rushed to the spot and provided primary treatment to the distressed animal. The leopard was later brought to Nuapada Range Office for further treatment, sources said.

“The leopard was provided with the necessary treatment after thorough examination of its health by our veterinarians. The animal is doing well now,” said Khariar Divisional Forest Officer Sushil Kumar Tripathy.

Notably, most of the places in Odisha have been witnessing heatwave condition for the last few days. The maximum temperature at several places in the state is hovering around 40 degree Celsius in the recent days.
