Life skill education programmes for 200 schools across 900 dists

Bhubaneswar, Mar 9:

The state government has directed all district collectors to extend the life skill education programme to all the residential high schools managed by SC & ST department in the state for the benefit of the students in the state.

The programme supported by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is being run in nine districts covering 200 high schools in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Rayagada districts.

“It is proposed to cover the remaining residential high schools in 2014-15 session. The programme will be primarily implemented by the department through trained nodal teachers and UNFPA will provide necessary technical assistance,” said Director-cum-additional secretary of SC & ST department in his letter to all the district collectors.

UNFPA will facilitate for organization of district level environment building workshop for district level officers and head masters of the schools for orienting on the dimensions of the life skills education programme during April this year.
